Fertilizer logistics company in India

Getting the bag to the field before the season does

Making fertilizer is half the job. The other half is moving thousands of tonnes from Karnataka to village dealers in the few weeks before sowing. This is how we do it.

Agri supply chain management in India

Fertilizer demand comes in two short waves

Almost all fertilizer in South India is bought in a few weeks around kharif and rabi sowing. Miss that window and the bag sits in a godown until next year.

So our logistics are built backwards from the sowing date. We plan production at the plant months ahead, move stock in bulk while trains and trucks are cheap and available, park it in warehouses near the demand, and release it to dealers as the rain arrives in each district.

  • Region-wise stock forecasts built with our dealers
  • Restocking support for dealers during the season

What we run

Four parts of our fertilizer supply

Rail transport for fertilizer supply

For distant districts and large volumes, we move stock by rail and cover the last leg by truck. Over long distances rail costs less per tonne than road, uses less fuel per tonne, and keeps trucks free for short, urgent runs.

Fertilizer warehousing

We hold seasonal stock in covered warehouses close to demand, set up for storage, sorting and dispatch. Dry storage matters: fertilizer that takes on moisture cakes, and caked bags are hard to sell.

Truck delivery to dealers

During the season, we restock dealers based on what is selling in each area, so a shop is not left with too much of one product and none of another.

Stock planning with dealers

Before each season our field officers sit with distributors and dealers to estimate demand by crop and village. That estimate drives production, rail bookings and warehouse stock.

Lower waste, lower diesel

Cleaner logistics are also cheaper logistics

Every tonne we move by rail instead of road saves diesel. Every bag that leaves the warehouse dry and intact is a bag that does not have to be replaced. Our granulated products go out in 50 kg HDPE bags, which handle loading, stacking and monsoon weather better than paper.

These are small things, but across a season they add up to less waste and a lower cost per bag for the farmer.

Logistics FAQs

Dispatch, storage and lead times

Talk to our dispatch team
Does CNF use rail transport for fertilizer supply?

Yes. Rail-based transport is at the centre of how we move stock over long distances. The last leg from the railhead to the warehouse or dealer goes by truck.

Do you offer fertilizer warehousing services to other companies?

Our warehouses are planned around CNF stock first. If you need storage or handling space, call us and we will tell you what is possible for your location and dates.

How early should a dealer place an order before the season?

As early as you can. Orders placed before the season go into our regional stock plan and reach you before the rush. Your field officer will give you the cut-off date for your area.

Can CNF deliver to my district?

Most of our supply goes to Karnataka and neighbouring states. For other states, share your district and quantity and we will confirm the route and delivery time.
